本課程將以The Society of Renaissance Florence: A Documentary Study與 Image of Quattrocento Florence: Selected Writings in Literature, History, Art兩本書選編的佛羅倫斯文藝復興史料為重點，帶領研究所學生學習了解，如何處理佛羅倫斯文藝復興研究的原始史料。課程進行的順序原則上依照此二書內容進行；史料閱讀之外，另會依照史料內容指導學生閱讀現代學者論著，藉以同時了解西方當代學界對相關議題的研究現況。
